HUGHES, Ted. A CROW HYMN
Vendor: Watersmead Books
Description:
Sceptre Press, Frensham, Farnham, Surrey, 1970
First Edition.
Octavo. White heavy paper stapled wrappers. Slight toning to edges, otherwise fine.
Limited to 100 copies, numbers 1-74 printed on laid paper, with 26 lettered A-Z and signed by the poet. This is number 18, signed by Hughes on the limitation page and inscribed by him on the title, "To Michael - when the Crow sings the nightingale bursts - from Ted March 70".
According to Martin Booth of Sceptre Press, of the 100 copies in series, only 21 signed and 64 unsigned were for sale, the remainder being taken by the poet for his personal use (Sagar & Tabor). It seems likely that this signed regular copy was one of those retained by Hughes.
