Privately printed (Majorca), 1935
Volumes 2 - 4 only (of 4), octavo. Original white paper wrappers printed in black. Scattered foxing, a few minor chips and creases, light rusting to staples; vol 3 with several small holes on the outer leaves and professional restoration to the front cover near the top outer corner, vol 4 a little damp stained. Still an excellent set overall, preserved in a custom grey-green drop-back box.
Ink ownership inscription to each volume of Beryl Graves, Robert Graves' second wife and muse, with the place and date "Deya, May 14th 1993".
Focus was a newsletter / literary magazine produced by and for the English-speaking expatriate community surrounding Robert Graves and Laura Riding in Deya, Majorca between January and December 1935. It included original poems and short essays by Graves, Riding, James Reeves and others. Estimates suggest there were no more than 25 of each issue. A very scarce set.
